From Fern was born in June 2020, at the end of our first UK lockdown. 

 

I was finishing up a business course with no plans for what was next and, if I am totally honest, no idea what wanted my future to look like!  Having never touched a sewing machine before, I grabbed some leftover Indian fabric lying around at home and made a few headbands. I put them up on Instagram, thinking it was just a little lockdown project… fast forward almost five years, and here we are!

 

I had zero background in sewing or designing, just a lifelong love for fashion; I kept experimenting, sourcing beautiful Indian fabrics, as well as later on corduroy, muslin and seersucker, and slowly expanded my collection. 

 

For the first three years I was making as much stock as possible at home - and thanks to our amazing customers, I then started outsourcing most of my pieces to keep up with demand.

 

I took on From Fern full time in March 2024 after deciding it was definitely more than a side hustle! 

 

I have now been lucky enough to have done multiple pop up shops on the Kings Road, at Durham University, in Clapham, Shoreditch, Barnes, and many more and I am so excited to announce more coming up in 2025.
